A while ago, DiaryOfAnInsaneWriter introduced contemporary romance author, Ritu Kakar through a bare-it-all interview. We promised that we would return with the book review as soon as Love Unexpected released.
After it’s release in January 2020, the book has garnered rave reviews on Amazon with an average of 4 stars from readers.
Deep within each of us is a die-hard romantic who is looking for a story with a fairy-tale ending. Many of us have coloured vision due to past negative experiences. It makes us reject anything that is remotely unbelievable.
This is something Ritu Kakar seems to have realised. That is why though Love Unexpected is a romance novel, it has been written with believable characters interacting with each other through a gripping & realistic narrative.
Readers will enjoy the simplicity, the chemistry and most importantly the different facets of romance the novel explores.
Here are 7 reason’s Ritu Kakar’s Love Unexpected is the Best Valentine’s Day Gift
It’s a contemporary love story
We have always called Ritu Kakar a Contemporary Romance Author. She understands her readers and knows what they are looking for. The setting, plot and characters are realistic and contemporary. They interact exactly how people do in real life. This makes Love Unexpected a believable read for a die-hard but realistic romantic.
The characters are relatable and real
Parents who dote on their daughter, a friend who would kill for her best friend, a brother who is a confidante and an ex-lover who ultimately feels sorry for his misdeeds. The protagonist, the lover and their chemistry are something the reader or those known would have gone through. Ritu’s writing makes the characters are very real and believable. One can relate to these in daily life.
The story is narrated in an interesting manner
We believe that the singular challenge that Ritu would have faced while spinning the story is to make the narrative interesting given that her characters are real, relatable and commonly found. Her narrative style makes one fall in love with the characters making the book unputdownable.
The plot discovers love across relationships
I loved this about the novel. Love need not be just about two people falling in love. There is love between a mother and her daughter, aunts & nieces, friends, siblings and co-workers. Ritu does a brilliant job of weaving each type of love within the narrative.
It’s a clean, romantic novel
The line between romance and sleaze is very thin. Writing up passionate romantic scenes without making it read like soft-porn is a skill. Ritu seems to have mastered the trick. The romantic scenes make the heart flutter and readers would find themselves smiling. This makes it a great read and the perfect gift for readers across ages.
It’s a fast-paced page-turner
Kaira, the protagonist is a fire-brand and the story is narrated from her point of view. Since her mind works at top speed, so does the novel. It makes it a breezy read however, Ritu does a fine job of applying brakes to the narrative wherever required. In the end, the reader is in for a treat without the risk of boredom at any point.
The simplicity of the writing will touch your heart
The language has been kept lucid that way readers across ages and linguistic proficiency will find it interesting and fun to read. Each character is grey and real leaving them vulnerable to mistakes that they deal with just as they would in real life. Readers will find themselves emotionally connected with the writing.
Here is the Synopsis:
Kaira is an independent girl chasing her ambitions. Aveer is a strong-minded and successful entrepreneur, seeking expansion. When they get together to give wings to their venture, there are fireworks and strange chemistry between them But there is something else walking along – Kaira’s past.
