For those who have been following my #40NotOut out series, this title may come as a shock. despite a perfectly happy and healthy life, there is an ugly fear that haunts me every single day. My health transformation has gifted me a happier life where I can live life to the fullest and have loads of fun! However, there is something that is bothering me to no end. Through this post, I wanted to share the fear with you. Maybe you can suggest a solution to my worries.
Here’s how it started:
The other day, I was in a Zoom Call with my friends. People who know me and love me much before I had an identity of my own. They were the ones who saw me through all my teen ups and downs and supported me throughout. They are the family that I have chosen. Just like them, I have so many friends who I met through life’s journey, each of them showered unconditional love and understanding. I have sailed through my life cocooned in the friendship of these wonderful souls in my life.
During the Zoom call, I happened to ask them, “Are you getting any exercise during this lockdown.” The poured out a long list of excuses. One of them even said that she loves herself too much to go through the trouble of exercising.
After the call, I checked with my other friends, it surprised me that around 85% of my friend circle are not getting any exercise during this lockdown. Each had their own set of excuses, some said there was no maid, so no time for exercise, still others said they spent their free time reading a book or knitting/sewing/cooking/cleaning.
I tried to explain to them about the benefits of exercising and how it helps raise immunity. They agreed with me and started their sentence with “You are right….but…”
My ugliest fear is that my friends & loved ones will die before me and I will be left alone.
Call it a stupid and selfish fear, but it is haunting me.
It hurts me that my blogs and social media posts have inspired so many people to turn to fitness but my own friends and family members refuse to walk this path. Laziness, lack of motivation, lack of self-belief or just plain stupidity – the reasons are many.
But the reality remains that my friends and loved ones run away from exercising and healthy eating. They take pride in saying that they love their unhealthy life, their sleep and junk food.
What should I do readers? I have no solution for this. Do you?

Although we all know the benefits of exercising, we don’t bother to do it unless we feel the need to. Fitness is considered as a passion rather than a necessity in today’s world. Unless and untell the body reflects the bad habits one doesn’t feel the urge to work out. I have a friend who does no exercise, eats quite a lot, and still stays slim. Meanwhile, my paunch shows up soon after a couple of unhealthy meals. It is my greatest motivation to exercise, to be honest. The general public just doesn’t consider exercise mandatory.

I have been living through excuses the past few months too but started exercising during this lockdown. No, I don’t go outside. I live in an independent house and a big enough lawn. I make the most of it and then I have a weights training set up right outside my room where me and my brother would workout earlier. I’m just making the most of it this lockdown season. I do understand that the A2Zis keeping you busy, but as Arnold Schwarzenegger says, If the leader of a country can take time out for his/her workout why cane we people? So people just buckle up and work out.
