Losing Sushant Singh Rajput is like losing a family member | Punish Rhea Chakraborty and all those involved | #JusticeForSSR

I met Sushant Singh Rajput briefly during the Ekjute Theatre Festival at Prithvi, a few years ago. Theatre queen, Nadira Babbar ji introduced me as the editor of Ekjute’s coffee-table book and publicist of the festival. We exchanged pleasantries. I remember leaving the conversation mid way because I was busy managing the event and the crowds.

I still remember the positive vibes he exuded and his million-dollar smile. He was so peppy and enthusiastic about live art. It was clear from the way he interacted with everyone from the world of theatre. He wasn’t a friend nor an acquaintance. He was just someone I knew as an alumnus of Ekjute Theatre Group – our senior in ranks. The respect for him will always remain. If you have been following my blog posts, you know that I have been writing extensively about Sushant.

Recently, a ‘well-meaning’ friend messaged me saying: “your blog is doing so well, use it for something sensible like GDP is falling and people are losing jobs. Talking about Sushant Singh Rajput’s case is serving no purpose for the country’s economy.” I love feedback, so I took it positively. However, I felt the need to share my connection with Sushant in this post.

Something happened this morning: I was talking to my husband, and I used the term “Meetu-Di” in Sushant’s context. He glanced at me and then we continued our conversation. I suddenly realised that Meetu-Di’s pain had become ours. I have never met her or Sushant’s family members but it feels like they are part of my family now.

Sushant may not be around to protect his family but he has left a family of atleast 100 crore fans across the globe who want #JusticeForSSR.

Sushant’s family is now my family, your family. The mystery around his sudden demise needs to be solved. There are so many questions that needs answers. There are so many mysterious deaths before and after his demise that need justice too – yes there are many.

I take all your feedback with folded hands and gratitude but I may not follow everything you say. My blog is a space where I objectively present my views and I have the right to do so. I will respect them for sure and we can have a healthy discussion around this and other topics.

I may write about the country’s economy and GDP in the coming days as per my friend’s suggestion. But, I will continue analysing aspects of the Sushant Case using my knowledge and experience. Its because I feel as if I lost a younger brother or friend. We lost a gem on 14th June and I feel that its my duty to speak about him on my platform.
