Parents worry about a child’s screen time. Most parents are looking out for resources that will allow children to spend their online time wisely. Children are looking for interesting content whereas parents are looking for literary avenues to expand their child’s vocabulary.

Jyotsna Atre’s ebook, Marvellous Rhymes for Children About the Wild is a must-read book for young readers.

What I loved about the book?

The very first thing that strikes you about Jyotsna Atre’s ebook is the creative way in which she has designed each page. Each page is a visual treat for parents and kids. She has taken care to weave in fun facts about each wild animal interestingly. My six-year-old has thoroughly enjoyed reading every poem and keeps going back to her favourite ones.

The language is superlative and definitely adds to the vocabulary of a child and adults. I love the way Jyotsna has cleverly spun fun facts into the narrative. The in-depth and interesting descriptions show the amount of research that the author has done to bring each poem to the reader.

My favourite poem from Jyotsna Atre’s ebook, Marvellous Rhymes for Children About the Wild

Kangaroo – This poem stands out as unique because Jyotsna has made her imagination run wild by comparing the male and female Kangaroos to Jack and Jill. It’s a delight to see how she has woven the words around this poem.

The downside of the book:

A book review is supposed to appear non-biased and therefore it is my duty to point out something that the author can improve. It’s difficult to point flaws in a book like Marvellous Rhymes. I will skip this portion because my 6-year-old daughter loved the poems, pictures and fun facts.

Verdict: 5/5

Mothers with school-going kids will love to buy this book in hard copy. Through this blog, I urge Jyotsna to turn this into an audiobook or better still, a video book. Kids will love it even more.
