This week has been emotionally stirring. Life is unpredictable. Noone, just NOONE knows what is going to happen in the next moment. The least one can do is live life to the fullest.
- On October 20, Radio Mirchi Nagpur’s RJ Shubham died during live show. He was 24 years old.
- On October 22, Marathi actor, Ashwini Ekbote died during a live performance. She was 44 years old.
Why is today’s post dedicated to these performers?
I learnt that apart from Shubham and Ashwini, there are 3 more people who passed away during a live performance, earlier this year.
- 24 April 2016: Congolese Musician Papa Wemba (Shungu Wembadio Pene Kikumba Jules) collapsed on stage during a concert at Abidjan, Ivory Coastperforming in the “festival of urban music” organized by the Magic System group. He died shortly after being transported to the hospital.
- 15 May 2016: Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Principal Bass Emeritus Jane Little collapsed and died on stage during the last 30 seconds of the orchestra’s final encore of There’s No Business Like Show Business, from the musical Annie Get Your Gun by Irving Berlin. Little was 87 years old and had been a member of the orchestra for 71 years.[42]
- 21 May 2016: Former Megadeth drummer Nick Menza collapsed and died of heart failure during a performance with his band OHM at The Baked Potato in Los Angeles.
Infact, Wikipedia has a page dedicated to entertainers who died during a performance. More than 60 blessed people form part of this list.
All of them passed away while doing what they loved doing. Their soul left their body while they were united with their passion.
It is the most blessed death one can ask for.
If I could choose, I would ask the Lord to gift me with a death like this. Simple, straight-forward and most importantly, taking place while I am doing what I love.
As you already know, I love writing. That is how I want to die – while I am writing.
